On June 18th, 2024, the Alliance held their 2024 Annual Meeting presented by U.S. Bank at the Sentinel in downtown Portland. With many leaders and thinkers in attendance, it was a great turnout for members of our business community to hear and see the progress and change over the last year.
Alando Simpson, CEO of COR and board chair of the Portland Metro Chamber, delivered his State of the Alliance, detailing the incredible work done by all three affiliates: the Portland Metro Chamber, Downtown Portland Clean & Safe, and Partners in Diversity under the Charitable Institute.
Megan Conway, Chief Strategy Officer at Travel Portland, sat down with Brett Catlin, VP of Loyalties, Alliances, and Sales, at Alaska Airlines, and we learned more about Alaska’s involvement with our award-winning PDX airport and about the new terminal project set to open this summer. Brett also had one more fun surprise to share with the attendees. The newest direct flight making its way to Portland is (drum roll please) PDX to New Orleans!
The Chamber then recognized four small businesses, who are integral to the PDX airport’s expansion project, with their very own President’s Awards. The $2 billion project is a huge investment for the region and has provided opportunities for many diverse local small businesses. Those businesses were:
- The National Association of Minority Contractors – Oregon (NAMC)
- Zena Forest Products
- Prestige Tile & Stone
- Chick of All Trades
In a special time for reflection, Jim Mark introduced Stacey Dodson, departing Market President of Oregon & SW Washington at U.S. Bank, to commend her for her 40 years of professional service. U.S. Bank continues to be one of the leading community supporters and we are please to work with them each year on this event.
The Portland Business Alliance and all three affiliates are committed to making our city a welcoming, safe, and prosperous place because when business thrives, so does our city and region. Here’s to another year of progress and driving ambition to keep Portland strong and our business’s vibrant, thriving, and supported. And, as Andrew Hoan said in the closing statement, “brighter days are ahead.”
