A framework for scaling-up your business

Ready to take your business to the next level?

In partnership with Portland Community College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Chamber offers a 10-month training program designed to help established small businesses increase revenue, improve operations, and hire great employees.

About the program

The Small Business Management program is a 10-month course focusing on mission-critical aspects of running a business. Participants commit to a three-hour class and a one-on-one advisory session each month, for the duration of the program.

Designed for small business owners who:

  • Either currently or have plans to begin selling products or services beyond the Portland region
  • Have been in business for at least two years
  • Have at least one full-time employee
  • Are looking to get on a strategic growth track

Topics of SBDC classes include:

  • Sourcing capital and financing
  • Financial management
  • Marketing
  • Human resources and hiring
  • Exploring new markets

Program Calendar

Program Costs

The Small Business Management program usually costs $1,800. However, through a generous grant from Bank of America, we are able to provide this training for up-to 12 small businesses each year, at a reduced cost of just $500.

Included in the scholarship is a complimentary, small business membership in the Portland Metro Chamber for two years.
