The Portland Metro Chamber, in collaboration with the Portland Community College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers a 10-month training program designed to help small businesses increase revenue, improve operations, and hire great employees.

About the program
The Small Business Management program is a 10-month course focusing on mission-critical aspects of running a business. Participants commit to a three-hour class and a one-on-one advisory session each month, for the duration of the program.
The course is designed for small business owners who:
- Either currently or have plans to begin selling products or services beyond the Portland region
- Have been in business for at least two years
- Have at least one full-time employee
- Are looking to get on a strategic growth track
Topics of classes include:
- Sourcing capital and financing
- Financial management
- Marketing
- Human resources and hiring
- Exploring new markets
It’s really hard to run a business on your own and it’s a really good idea to have support from an advisor who is able to help. There will likely also always be other business owners in the program who are going through similar challenges as you.
Program Costs
The Small Business Management program usually costs $1,800. However, through a generous grant from Bank of America, we are able to provide this training for up-to 12 small businesses each year, at a reduced cost of just $500.
Included in the scholarship is a complimentary, small business membership in the Portland Metro Chamber for two years.
