The Portland Metro Chamber, in collaboration with the Portland Community College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers a 10-month training program designed to help small businesses increase revenue, improve and scale operations, hire great employees, and more.
And the best part is… thanks to generous support from Bank of America, the cost for this comprehensive program is just $500 for scholarship recipients!
About the program
The Small Business Management program is a 10-month course from February-November 2026 focusing on mission-critical aspects of running a business. Participants commit to a three-hour class and a 1:1 advisory session each month, for the duration of the program. More information here.
The course is designed for small business owners who are:
- Selling (or preparing to sell) products or services beyond the Portland region
- In business for 3+ years
- Employing at least one full-time staff member
- Seeking ways to grow and expand
What you’ll gain in the monthly classes:
- Practical training in sourcing capital and financing
- Tools for effective marketing and financial management
- Strategies for hiring and retaining employees
- Guidance on exploring new business opportunities
Participating in the SBMP was an incredible experience that allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. The program provided invaluable insights and the opportunity to connect and collaborate with inspiring business leaders, helping me enhance my leadership skills and business strategy.
Program costs
The Small Business Management program usually costs $1,800. However, through a generous grant from Bank of America, we are able to provide this training for up to 12 small businesses each year, at a reduced cost of just $500.
Included in the scholarship is a complimentary, small business membership in the Portland Metro Chamber for two years.
