From Andrew Hoan: Portland Advocacy Day in Salem and State Policy Agenda

February 2025

Thank you for being a member of the Portland Metro Chamber. You are part of the largest and most diverse business association in the State of Oregon. Staff work every day to support a thriving economy for you and your business and we are grateful for your support, and for your leadership as an employer in our community. We know that operating a business has not been easy these past few years, but our optimism for a brighter future has never waivered and wish you and your colleagues success, and are always at your service should you need any support.

We are excited to launch our inaugural ‘Portland Advocacy Day in Salem’ trip with 120 attendees from across the private sector, community leaders, academic leadership, nonprofit partners, side-by-side with policy makers and elected leaders.

The goal: to share with our state representatives a proactive, collaboratively-developed agenda to support the Portland metro region—the economic driver of Oregon.

This trip is complimented with the release of a critical report that documents the contribution of the region’s economy to state revenue, and our 2025 legislative policy agenda. While we have always maintained a presence in Salem, it is more critical than ever that we partner with all levels of government to obtain needed investment in our communities, and policies that make it easier for business and residents to thrive in our region.

We are pleased to share with you:

This analysis proves that our community is an excellent investment for the State of Oregon. Because investing in our city, county and region produces excellent returns. We have many opportunities to channel those investments that are aligned with shared goals of our city, county, private sector and the leadership of the Governor through the Central City Taskforce.

We thank Mayor Wilson, County Chair Vega Pederson, and their teams for the collaboration and support of this analysis.

ICYMI: our teams have been busy providing the community with needed information to help shape policy with data, and a road map to support a vibrant economy.

Now more than ever our community needs to hear our members’ voices. With many newly elected leaders, government structures and challenges that need urgent action, we appreciate your activism and opportunity to serve you and your teams.
