Jay Clark began his position as the director of government affairs for the Portland Metro Chamber in the Fall of 2022. In this role, Jay helps the organization keep a strong pulse on all the legislative and political activity in the greater Portland region, as well as throughout Oregon. Jay works closely with chamber members to help actively engage them in this process and advocate for their needs.
Jay has been deeply involved in Oregon politics for more than twenty-five years. During that time, he worked on more than 150 different campaigns for more than 100 different elected officials, candidates, ballot measures, PACs, and nonprofits, primarily as a political fundraising consultant. Immediately prior to joining PMC, Jay took a two-and-a-half-year break from politics to expand his skill set and business knowledge through work in the private sector. During this time, he served as chief of staff to the CEO of a healthcare company and as a strategic advisor to the president of a chemical manufacturing company.
Jay has a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oregon and an MBA from Stanford University. Jay is a huge baseball enthusiast and lifelong collector of baseball cards, memorabilia, and autographs. When not in the office or geeking out over his hobby, Jay can likely be found camping in the remote corners of the Pacific Northwest.
